Mattern & Craig ● Engineers & Surveyors is proud to announce that Brian R. Newman, PE, CPESC has accepted the position of Office Manager in our newest office located in the Foothills region of North Carolina. Over the past two and a half years, Brian has served as a Senior Project Manager and Civil/Site Discipline Lead for another local firm. He has rejoined Mattern & Craig to continue building on his previous 12 year commitment to the firm.
Brian is licensed as a Professional Engineer in North Carolina and Virginia after completing his Bachelor of Science in Construction Engineering Technology from East Tennessee State University. He returns to Mattern & Craig with extensive civil/site development and project management experience on projects within the commercial, municipal, industrial, and economic development disciplines. Brian has most recently assisted local governments in securing significant funding to help realize multiple municipal stormwater and building infrastructure projects in Western North Carolina. Brian previously worked at Mattern & Craig in their Kingsport and Johnson City, Tennessee offices leading many of our projects and clients in East Tennessee and Southwestern Virginia.
Going forward, Brian will be working to expand the firm’s relationship with NCDOT by assisting Asheville Principal James Voso and establishing a new, larger engineering team and office in the Foothills region of North Carolina. Brian will also be leading new Business Development efforts there and establishing opportunities for new civil, structural, transportation, and traffic engineering project work throughout the region. With the help of Calvin Clifton and Katrina Price, he is dedicated to expanding the firm’s recognition and success with a specific focus on the continued growth of our Western North Carolina offices.
