Hal Marvin Joins Statesville Office

Hal Marvin-3Mattern & Craig Engineers & Surveyors, a civil and structural engineering and surveying firm with offices in NC, TN and VA announces the addition of Hal Marvin to head up their Statesville, NC office.  Mr. Marvin, a licensed engineer in the states of North Carolina and South Carolina, has joined Mattern & Craig in the role of project manager and office manager for the Statesville office.  He is also a Licensed General Contractor and a LEED Accredited Professional with Specialty BD+C.

According to Randy Beckner, Principal and Chairman of the Board, Hal will be managing transportation and civil engineering projects while increasing the firm’s presence and workload in the I-40/I-77 region.

With over 23 years of experience across a broad spectrum of civil engineering responsibilities, his work has encompassed design and construction phase services for a variety of development projects for both governmental and private clients. Transportation experience includes construction & hydraulic surveying, CEI, planning and preliminary designs, recreational/vehicular & light rail bridge engineering, bridge inspections, hydraulic and roadway improvements.  He has managed and designed numerous site develop and public infrastructure projects.  Facility work has included horizontal and vertical improvements on VA Campuses and Army, Navy and Airforce installations nationwide.  As a general contractor and design professional, Hal has participated in both design/bid/build and design/build commercial and residential building construction projects.  Mr. Marvin is a hands-on engineer with over 15 years experience leading, mentoring and managing project teams engaged in A/E/C services.

A native of Hickory, NC, Hal is a graduate of North Carolina State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in the field of Civil Engineering. While at NCSU, Hal was the recipient of the Outstanding Senior Award presented by the NC Section of American Society of Civil Engineers for outstanding achievement as an undergraduate at NCSU.  He is a member ASCE and NSPE and also an active PENC Member since 2007.  He has served the PENC Chapter as Membership Chair 2008-2009, Chapter President Elect 2009-2010, President Hickory Regional Chapter 2010-2015, and Governor 2015-2016.  Hal and his family live in the Hickory area where they enjoy the outdoors, golf, biking, baseball, basketball, karate, spending time with their three dogs, church, family and friends.
