Jason A. Carder, PE, RSP

Mattern & Craig is proud to announce that Jason A. Carder, PE, RSP has been named a Principal.  Jason has been with Mattern & Craig for 15 years and has a total of 18 years experience in the civil, transportation, and traffic engineering fields.

Jason is a transportation projects manager in the firm’s Tennessee offices.  He earned both his BS and MS degrees in Civil Engineering from Tennessee Technological University, is a registered Professional Engineer in TN and VA, and is a certified Road Safety Professional.  He has extensive experience both managing and producing a variety of civil engineering projects for both public and private sector clients, with a specialty in traffic and transportation projects.  He has developed excellent, long-term relationships with clients including the Tennessee Department of Transportation and many cities and counties throughout Tennessee and Virginia.  His leadership and dedication have been instrumental in the growth and success of the transportation division and the firm as a whole.

Jason is a member of several professional organizations.  Notably, he has served as President, Vice-President, and Secretary/Treasurer of the Tennessee Section of the Institute of Transportation Engineers (TSITE), and was a member of the TSITE Leadership Development program in 2012.  He is also currently serving on the advisory board for Tennessee Tech’s Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering.

Jason was born and raised in Johnson City, TN, and currently lives there with his wife and 2 children.  He is a member of Central Baptist Church (where he serves as a deacon, on multiple committees, and teaches Wednesday night classes).  He also serves on the Board of Directors for Camp Bays Mountain, serves as a teacher (“Trail Guide”) for Trail Life, coaches Little League baseball, and is a Rotarian.  He is also a member of Leadership Kingsport, class of 2019.
