April 6, 2020 – Mattern & Craig ● Engineers & Surveyors is pleased to announce that Brad Craig, current Principal and member of the Board of Directors, has been selected as Mattern & Craig’s new President. Mattern & Craig, based in Roanoke, VA, employs more than 75 employees in their 6 offices in 4 southeastern states.
“I’m honored to step into the role of President of Mattern & Craig which was founded over 40 years ago. I plan to uphold our firm’s commitment of high-quality service to our clients while maintaining a culture in which our employees can grow and prosper, even in these unsettling times.” stated Craig regarding his new role.
Craig succeeds Steve Campbell who, as part of the firm’s leadership transition plan, is stepping aside after serving 16 years as president but remains as a vice-president and member of the Board of Directors.
“I want to take this opportunity to congratulate Brad Craig on being named President of Mattern & Craig. This decision was finalized at our Annual Board meeting, but the planning for it began years ago. It has always been a policy of M&C to plan for the future, to place ourselves in a position to grow, and to train our folks for future leadership. Training and selecting the right person to be our President is certainly near the top of that list.” said Campbell of this planned strategic, succession move.
Prior to his role as Head of the firm’s Civil Division and Principal in our Roanoke office, Craig served as project manager on numerous planning and design of infrastructure improvement projects for various municipalities and state agencies. His primary focus has been on water and wastewater facilities, including design of utility projects, pumping facilities, storage tanks, and water/wastewater treatment plants. Additionally, Craig has designed and managed projects involving stormwater facilities, site development, roadway design, public works facilities, and downtown revitalization/enhancement.
Brad, a native of the Roanoke Valley, lives in Salem with his wife Stacy and three kids (Cameron, Andrew, and Caroline). His personal interests include golf, fly fishing, music, and Virginia Tech athletics.
