June 15, 2020 – Mattern & Craig ● Engineers & Surveyors, a civil and structural engineering and surveying firm with offices in Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia is pleased to announce that Calvin Clifton, Business Development Manager, has been selected to serve a two-year term on the American Public Works Association (APWA) national Transportation Committee.
The purpose of the Transportation Committee is to provide APWA members with resources for exchanging and developing ideas, information, skills, knowledge, and technologies for the advancement of APWA’s transportation objectives and to develop and promote environmentally sound, sustainable, cost-effective, and safe systems that enhance the livability and quality of life in our communities through active public involvement.
Clifton, who was selected because of his recognized expertise in transportation and infrastructure, is a former public-sector public works director, transportation planner, and water/wastewater systems manager having served in these roles with the cities of Kingsport and Athens, TN before moving into a consulting role. As a public works director, he administered traffic and transportation management plans and managed streets, intersections and traffic control infrastructure. Clifton is a past-president of the Tennessee Chapter of the American Public Works Association and presently serves as Chairman of the APWA national Government Affairs Committee.
