Mattern & Craig Welcomes Tom Goodwin to Roanoke Office

Mattern & Craig Engineers • Surveyors is pleased to announce that Thomas K. Goodwin, PE has joined the firm in the role of Transportation Division Manager for Virginia. In this role, Tom will be responsible for strategic planning, business development involving the transportation division; overseeing production and quality assurance for all transportation projects in VA including staffing and scheduling of work assignments; project management for key transportation projects and staff development. He will also assist the firm’s North Carolina and South Carolina Transportation Divisions in business and project development.

Tom is licensed as a Professional Engineer in the states of Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. He graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from North Carolina State University. He has over 38 years of extensive experience in planning, project management, design, and construction administration in various areas of transportation and highway engineering for municipalities and state departments of transportation. “With the combination of his technical expertise and senior level management experience, Mattern & Craig is fortunate and thrilled to have Tom join the firm during this exciting time.  We look forward to Tom’s leadership in strengthening and growing our Virginia Transportation practice”, said Brad Craig, President of the firm.

In addition to his professional licensure in multiple states, Tom is actively involved in several professional organizations including the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE), and the Virginia Transportation Construction Alliance (VTCA).  As a leader in the American Society of Highway Engineers (ASHE), Tom is a Past-president and also served as a Section Director of ASHE, Carolina Triangle Section.
